Buddha and Money: Few Learnings from Buddha’s Teachings

Money is the center of life for most of us. We all want to earn more money so as this can give us many physical comforts and also can increase our social stature. The fact is that the Life has become more materialistic than ever.

Let us learn few lessons from Buddhism about living our daily lives. Let’s see how Buddha had taught us to let go of desire and greed and live simple.

1. Have simple and healthy food

This is very simple but most effective things. If we eat simple and healthy food it will have double effect as it does not cost much and also makes us healthier. We should be eating vegetables and grains and avoid eating meat, fast food items. Practicing this will not only save money but would also help your health.

2. Do not buy things which are not required

We should identify between the actual needs and wants. When we buy things which we actually don’t need, means we are spending unnecessarily and our money will run out if we keep on doing this. This may result into having debt with full of unnecessary things.

3. Work for Purpose not for Money

We should chose a work which we enjoy doing not just because it gives more money. If we work just for money, we will never be satisfied. If we work for a cause and enjoy it, we will go home every day feeling contended.

4. Avoid the Vices

All the bad habits actually results into negativity. We should avoid drinking, smoking or gambling as this not only burns away money but also is injuries to our health and family life.

5. Sharing and Caring

Sharing and caring is a very important part of life. We should help others specially those who are in need. We should not be greedy and allow wealth and happiness to flow from us to others.

Buddha has taught us many virtues which are very much true in today’s life also. Buddhism is not just self-restraint and self-denial, it is also about the proper management of the earthy goods that we have. We should learn from his virtues and practice them in real life.

Money is the worst discovery of human life but it is the most trusted material to test human nature.
